Paul Colton - President & CEO, Founder

Paul Colton Aptana was founded by Paul Colton in 2005. Prior to starting Aptana, Paul Colton founded several technology companies including Live Software. At Live Software, Paul helped define the Servlet API specification and also created JRun, the leading commercial Servlet and JSP engine. After Live Software was acquired by Allaire Corporation (and subsequently by Macromedia and Adobe, which now sells JRun), Paul took time to explore new technical opportunities — Aptana is the result of that exploration.



Uri Sarid - CTO & Vice President of Engineering

Uri Sarid Uri heads the Engineering team at Aptana. Prior to Aptana, he co-founded and led the architecture and engineering at Accomplice, a software startup that brought to market an innovative networked desktop application that integrates an efficient personal organizational tool with the ability to quickly pull together a team. Before Accomplice, he was CTO and VP of Engineering at Noosh (now NewlineNoosh), an internet software and services company for enterprise print and marketing projects. Uri arrived at Noosh through the acquisition of digiGroups, a company he co-founded and ran as both CEO and CTO. digiGroups provided an innovative platform — now known as AJAX — and collaboration suite for large enterprise buyers and sellers. In his former life, Uri was a physics faculty member at the University of Notre Dame. He has a B.S. in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Arizona, a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Harvard University, and did post-doctoral work at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, Stanford University, and the Weizmann Institute.


Kevin Hakman – Director of Product Marketing

Kevin HakmanKevin heads the marketing and developer outreach programs at Aptana. Kevin is a recognized leader in the Ajax community. Long before the term "Ajax" was coined, Kevin was pioneering single page web application concepts via the company he co-founded in 2001, General Interface Corp., one of the first enterprise Ajax library and visual development tools companies. General Interface went on to be acquired by TIBCO Software in 2004 to compliment the company's service-oriented architecture (SOA) products. At TIBCO Kevin built up the developer outreach and open source programs. Today TIBCO General Interface is used by many Fortune-scale companies for rapid Web application development and deployment atop their XML and SOAP data sources. Kevin has been a member of the steering committee of the OpenAjax Alliance, an industry consortiuum with world-wide members, and currently chairs the organization's integrated development environment working group. Kevin is a frequent speaker at Ajax industry events and is an author to many published articles on Ajax in the enterprise. Graduating from Cornell University and building on his interests in architecture, furniture design and software graphics, Kevin spent the early 1990's developing personalized print-on-demand catalog software for the home furnishings industry then founded the e-commerce and direct marketing agency eMergingMedia in 1995.
